@Judy aka L@dybug: How interesting. In fact the mother's was undoubtedly a very expensive kimono because, as with all kimono, the sleeve and the main body are different pieces, and keeping the intricate shibori pattern constant over that seam is very difficult.

I had to come back and admire all over again ... I have worked with silks purchased abroad by clients, but never one with such a large and beautiful pattern.
