Kyoto Summer 「京の夏」

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 9 August 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

It has been a long tradition to escape the Kyoto summer heat and humidity by traveling up the road a bit to Kibune. There you will find restaurants like this one that build platforms right out over the river and you can enjoy the refreshing cool of the breezes coming off the river, the sound of running water, and even put your feet in the river if you like. Wearing a summer-weight kimono (called a yukata) like the couple in the bottom right may not necessarily help break the heat, but it certainly looks lovely.
