I suppose it is the duty of every Kyoto photographer to once in a while post a photo of the maiko (the apprentice geisha) of the Gion district, so here is mine.
She appeared out of nowhere and went into the teahouse before I could do more than fumble stupidly with my camera. Best I can do: sorry folks. I am definitely not a street photographer: the decisive moment is usually long over before I have even turned on the camera and taken off the lens cap.
