This was taken at Hachidai Shinto Shrine, and here we see a volunteer worker putting up a new sacred rope across the shrine's front. Already in place are sprigs of sacred pine, one by the second ladder, and another smaller one attached to the post near the base of the shrine's building. These decorations are put up only at New Year's, though the sacred rope will stay there all year long until it is replaced next year.
