Zen, Late Afternoon

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 7 November 2011 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

This is a garden called Kaisanto (開山塔) at Shokokuji Temple in Kyoto. It is only open for a few months every year and I happened to be visiting when the light was perfect. The monk told me with pride that he had just raked the garden that day. How long does that take? Looking out over his handiwork he said About an hour and a half.
