@Anita: Thanks for your visit. She is actually cutting some ties that are keeping the rice standing upright. Shortly before the harvest we had a typhoon come through and it toppled over many of the rice plants. So that they don't lay on the wet ground until harvest, farmers will go around and tie them back up together in stands. However, the harvest machines can't deal with the ties, so this lady is going around cutting all the ties before the machines come in.
