Winter Garden

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 20 January 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

We move now to another temple near my apartment, called Renge-ji Temple (蓮華寺) in the Kamitakano part of northern Kyoto. The temple was founded very long ago, and has been on this site since the 17th century. It is part of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism. If you would like to see the garden in summer, you can see this earlier post. If you come to visit Kyoto, this temple is unfortunately not very easy to get to using public transportation. But please make the effort! You will be glad you did, because it is beautiful every season of the year.
