Iwakura (岩倉)

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 9 January 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

This is the part of northern Kyoto where I live, called Iwakura. The mountain is called Mt. Hiei and is a constant source of joy to see through all the seasons. I especially love to come to this particular spot in Iwakura because you get such a beautiful view of the area and the mountain and a few of the old farmhouses and fields. This place also always reminds me of my father because I remember taking him here on a wonderful walk we shared.

If you would like to see this same view in summer, look at this earlier post.
