Winter Light: Teahouse

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 17 January 2010 in Plant & Nature.

Today I'll start a series for the week: winter light. Hope you enjoy.

In case you're wondering, the entrance to the teahouse is the little sliding wooden panel on the left side. It is called a nijiriguchi (躙口), and is designed to be small so that the people coming to take tea will humble themselves upon entry and be in the right frame of mind to concentrate on the ceremony.
