A Humble Request; お願い

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 13 January 2010 in People & Portrait.

During the first shrine visit of the New Year, it is a custom to write your New Year's wish on a small wooden plaque, called an ema (絵馬), and hang it at the shrine.

Taken at mighty Yasaka Shrine (八坂神社), one of the city's oldest and most venerable Shinto grounds of worship, founded in the 8th century. A very popular place to visit in the New Year.
