Zen Cat (禅の猫), 2

Posted by
GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 27 February 2009 in Animal & Insect.

I dedicate this one to the Am3 blog Lucca's Cafe, which I think has the most original and inspiring cat photos on the Am3 site.

As a study of light and texture this is really beautiful. I especially like the linen curtain and the wood grain. The cat is very much an integral part of the scene :)

The Nikon seems to love the warmer tones too. This is such a subtle image full of oldy worlde charm. You have to look closely to get the emotional payback. A lovely shot.

@Stu: Thanks for the visit and for taking the time to look carefully. Although I was pleased with this one precisely because it takes a little bit of time to look over, I almost didn't post it because I thought it might just be a little too subtle to work well.
As to the warm colors it's a little trick of setting the WB setting to "cloudy" in the late afternoon sun, which emphasizes the brown range. Sometimes it works and sometimes, well . . . .

Ian Bramham from Manchester, United Kingdom

Beautiful warm colours and tones!

Absolutely gorgeous! Abstract yet not, minimal yet not. Every little part of it contributes to the whole – your design sense is amazing.
