The lovely store lights were the result of a happy accident: forgetting to turn the WB back to "auto" in the evening after using the "cloudy" setting all day.
I rain and the wet road makes for such great detail and contrast. Great shot.

The buildings are so imposing and grand that they make the crowds seem like small ants. The cobbled streets are lovely, too. Everything looks so ordered and clean.

@cat: Thanks for the visit and for the comment. Yes, everywhere we visited in Germany was wonderfully clean; we were impressed. And, yes, the people are small in this photo. For some reason I almost never include people in my photography, and when I do I always like them to be very small within the overall composition. See, for example, yesterday, or here, or here. I don't know why.
really like that slight reflection cast upon the wet cobble; works extremely well here. and i've been victim of the forgetful WB set as well--whatever the camera decided on for this image, it works extraordinarily well.

I like very much colors and people are quite distinct !

I like how the evening “tones” the whole in blue and how the orange lit windows pop and punctuate the image and cast their reflections on the wet cobblestones. The center building in white anchors the whole - very nicely composed!

Beautiful muted colors and nice reflections. Marvelous.

beautiful spot! Great colors and lighting coming from the inside!

Sometimes an "incorrect" setting can work to you advantage, as here! I like the cold feel of the street cobbles contrasting with the warmth of the lighting.

There is something special about wet winter views that have a warm feeling to them. Nice one.

Funny how those little errors sometimes turn into something wonderful (although for me they usually end up being big mistakes).

What a useful WB tip--the store lights are my favorite part of this image. Although, I also really like the slick rainy feel too. Nice shot.

Inside the buildings it looks warm and inviting; outside cold and wet. This juxtaposition is intriguing and vivid. You captured the mood so well!

nice lights - as soon as I saw this shot I thought "that's the D300..." ;) nice composition: I especially like the texture and reflected light on the wet cobblestones, and the dark figures with bright umbrellas.
16 Jan 2009 7:17pm
Some lovely luminance going on here. Really nice! (And I'd say you sell yourself short as a street photographer, with this as exhibit A, and the previous day's as exhibit B).

Many beautiful pictures since my last visit... The orange warm lights in association with the cold blue is beautiful.
