Another line in the sand, Yakumo, a dare. This one says ‘tell me I can’t go there.’ And you take us along, showing us new things, new ways to see aesthetically, without leaving the classical framework, however exotically evolved, to which you are committed. This is a shot carelessly taken over the shoulder of someone who can’t go wrong. The subtle corrugations in the shadows are enchanting. Mark Rothko’s mysticism is honored there. The electrical line and its shadow are a nice touch. I like the little white shard in the lower left corner. Your use of the picture’s edges as a compositional feature is sophisticated, and keeps the image from being hollowed out. This is a beautifully proportioned composition, incisive and spare, and the colors are warmly appealing.
Perfect balance between strength and subtlety, fine details and simplicity... elegant and charming!
On this First Day of the Chinese New Year, wish you and everyone a fabulous Year of the Tiger!!!
