I consider Yakumo's World an artistic project, not a documentary one. As a result, the Kyoto you see here generally reflects the moods of the Iwakura area near my apartment rather than every aspect of the city.

But as a continuing artistic challenge to myself I have decided to try my hand more often at finding urban images. So for a few days in early August I headed downtown and I really enjoyed myself.

So yesterday's and the four images that follow are not "street photography" in the classic sense, nor are they lessons about Kyoto. Instead, they are a Yakumo's World take on the time and culture warps of a part of the city weighted with more than 1,000 years of history.
