Spring Leaves: In the GardenPosted by GJC (Kyoto, Japan) on 15 May 2009 in Landscape & Rural. Starting today and going for the next two weeks , I am going to post images celebrating the return of the spring leaves of the Japanese maple tree. After watching the cherry blossoms in April, our next great natural pleasure is seeing the vibrant new leaves. Enjoy.....

Hoshisato from Ealing, United KingdomBeautiful greens, I'm looking forward to your garden series! 15 May 2009 5:29am Stu from Kyoto, JapanIt seems we share a passion for the new green (新緑) and the Nikon seems to be showing off again! ;-) 15 May 2009 7:42am @Stu: Thanks. Yes, my Nikon is just telling me: "stand back and don't get in my way!" And so I do what I'm told. dkc from Xanthi, Greecethis is amazing! can't wait to see the photos with the new leaves! 15 May 2009 9:38am Veronique from Sarrouilles, Francethis lady is perfect in this picture. One can't help but relax in an environment such as this. 15 May 2009 8:28pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomI'm really looking forward to seeing the shots you take of the lovely Maples, my favorite trees. 15 May 2009 8:56pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesLush green garden, very beautiful. 15 May 2009 9:26pm michele from Canadathank you for the nice treat - our leaves are only beginning to unfurl. i like how it looks like the figure in this one is also interested in the leaves. 16 May 2009 4:27am cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelWhat an amazing fresh look those leaves have and the figure in the garden seems to be truly part of the scene, rather than turning this into a photograph of someone in a garden - if that makes sense. Do the Japanese characters that the commenter above (Stu) used mean 'new green' to describe specifically the phenomenon of the leaves? (I'm fascinated by languages and how they reflect culture, but know nothing about Asian languages). 16 May 2009 3:25pm @cat: Thanks for the visit and comment. I was glad you thought the figure (my wife) integrated well into the scene so that it all worked together. I find it hard to balance figure and landscape.
