The Art of the Rice Field

The rice fields in Iwakura in the northern part of Kyoto are just beginning to awaken from their winter slumbers.

I really love the geometry and line in this photo GJC!

Also, the reflective surface of the water works really well with those soft colours as a backdrop.

This is both highly graphic with those strong diagonals, and yet not, with those soft colours and reflections Ian mentioned. A very strong composition with hushed undertones (if that makes any sense?).

i like that we see the reflection but not what the reflection is of. the soft reds and whites in the reflection are very beautiful.

I like how the house reflection is carried on in the next image (sometimes it's fun to move backwards through a series of images, it seems!). I like the combination of order and nature too, which I suppose is a good way of looking at agriculture.
