Mountain Temple (山のお寺)

Thanks for the comments on yesterday's image. I was pleased everyone could see the communion between the built and natural environment that I was aiming at photographing.
Though there are many lovely old buildings in the Iwakura section of Kyoto, they are nevertheless torn down at a frightening pace. One of my very favorites -- a noble old home -- was recently destroyed and another lost its walled garden so that a slight curve in the road could be straightened. It really broke my heart.
But, like yesterday's, here is a place that tries to live in the environment rather than dominate, ignore or obliterate it. When a natural setting is as beautiful as this, it seems worth a little compromise.
