I get the impression someone studied form and shadow before they built and planted this. Thus, the timeless feeling it gives. So soothing.

Lovely curves and shapes in the tree and the temple.
The temple fits right in with the nature, even though it's very formal looking.

This shot is two horizontals stacked on top of one another, joined by the trunk of the tree. Both are equally interesting, but the bottom half is my favorite part with that beautiful shadow.

I am so used to seeing the typical red in Chinese temples, it is still amazing to see Japanese temples have a strong sense of color (and design). Great shot.
