Flight DelayPosted by GJC (Kyoto (京都), Japan) on 3 January 2009 in Animal & Insect. Another shot from Regensburg, close to where I took yesterday's. I thought these pigeons looked like they were waiting for better flying conditions.

Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThere is something quite amusing about this one. Well spotted. 3 Jan 2009 5:31am kiji from valenciennes, FranceI love the graphic aspect of tiles and the amazing group of birds! 3 Jan 2009 7:45am @kiji: Thanks for the visit and the comment. Yes, even though there was no snow it was very cold that day and the birds show it. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWow what a gorgeous roof, I think the birds like it too :) Well done GJC 3 Jan 2009 10:11am Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomA truly remarkable photograph with the visual play between the birds, the ornaments on the tower and the fancy roofing tiles . . all relate in subtle ways to make this ace composition. Well worth getting cold for ! 3 Jan 2009 11:20am Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyAnother minimalistic piece of art. So have you been to Germany on your recent holidays? 3 Jan 2009 3:06pm cat from tel aviv, IsraelIt's funny, when I saw the detail of the roof tile I was reminded of your pictures of Japanese temples (if that's the right term for them...). The reds are lovely in this - the pigeons look like part of the roof decoration. 3 Jan 2009 4:22pm beanow from PolandSuper framing! Taken down great textures, just and in the proper moment seized pigeons... Bravo! 3 Jan 2009 5:25pm Steve Rice from United StatesSuch a wonderful image. The tower in the fog adds an air of mystery. 3 Jan 2009 7:14pm Lucca from Cologne, GermanyEverything in this image works so fantastic. At first I saw the pigeons, then the roof with its colors and at least the church and dust in the background. Wonderful. 3 Jan 2009 8:19pm grant from kansas city, United Statesthey seem to have become part of the architecture. very fine shot. 3 Jan 2009 11:10pm baobab from Cambridge, United Statesnice eye in this - I like the way the birds echo the bumpy bits in the steeple's architecture (there must be some technical term), and the bright tiles beneath the window. did you try a crop shaving a little more off from the left? i.e. bringing the window to about 1/3 from the left edge of the shot. I'd be interested to see how that affects the visual balance. 4 Jan 2009 3:34am @baobab: Thanks for your visit and the thoughtful comment. I appreciate the suggestion and will give it a try. I had it this way originally because the right edge of the steeple comes to the half-way point in the composition, giving it some stability I thought. But I'll see what it looks like with a little crop on the left. Thanks again! daina from United StatesI always find it remarkable that some want to alter another work. Another’s work has an integrity I don’t want to intrude upon even by a slight suggestion. But it was a good observation about the “pegs” on the steeple echoing the birds. It is as if the birds are climbing the steeple to heaven :} 4 Jan 2009 3:39pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesTwo very different parts of the planet, but certain scenes will always be the same no matter where you guy- pigeons sleep on roof top :) 5 Jan 2009 8:31pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, Canadathat phantom steeple is wonderful - there must be some metaphor about the spiritual world, and the world of pigeons. 6 Jan 2009 3:27am zanfifotos from La Garde, Franceone line waiting for departure, one funny pic, very nice the bell tower on last plan 6 Jan 2009 7:45pm |
