Kofukuji Temple (光福寺)

Same name but different kanji, so this shouldn’t be confused with the great Kofukuji Temple (興福寺) in Nara. This is a very modest and yet exquisite little temple near Demachiyanagi in Kyoto. I have passed here many, many times and each time this temple’s quiet modesty has struck me, particularly the way it so gently wears the late afternoon light.
