Today is the first-year anniversary of Yakumo's World! On the 10th of December last year I very nervously made my first post, not sure that my photos had sufficient quality to belong here, and not sure that I could post every day without fail.
Over the course of the last year, however, Yakumo's World has become one of the most important things in my life. It has provided a break from the stresses of work, of course, but more than that it has helped me to discipline myself, to explore more thoughtfully what I want to say with my photography and with my life, to look more carefully and to even more keenly appreciate the magical beauty of this ethereal city: Kyoto. I want to thank all of you who visit so regularly and whose kind and encouraging comments (over 4,000 of them according to the AM3 counter!) have meant such a great deal to me. I also want to thank you for sharing your own visions and your own struggles on the blogs I visit and from where I get much inspiration. You have been a wonderful community. Finally, I want to thank my mother for encouraging me to give this blog a try, and both of my parents for teaching me about the value of beauty.
