Hints of Autumn: Late Afternoon

This was taken at a Shinto shrine not too far from my house. The long rope is connected to a bell. If you ring the bell and throw some money in the grate on the door, the god will listen to your prayer. I didn't want to disturb him, however; the light was too lovely and I thought we'd just enjoy it quietly together.

This is the first in a series of six examining some signs of autumn, particularly the wonderful light. Enjoy.

Gorgeous light falling across the wood. It looks so warm.

I like the idea of ringing the bell and leaving a small offering for the spirit. I think I would have been tempted to ring the bell just to hear it - I bet it sounds beautiful too.

Thank you for the explanation to the photo, however the photo is just as beautiful on its own. The late afternoon colors from the sun really show in this photo.
