Welcome Home (お帰りなさい)Posted by GJC (Kyoto (京都), Japan) on 8 November 2008 in Architecture. I've noticed lately that my posts here have gotten "mushy" or blurry although they are clear and sharp in the original and I am careful to set the dimensions at no more than 800x800. (For example, the tree here is blurry -- frustrating!!) Anyone else with this problem?

Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesSimple and clean landscaping, but this is the royal garden to the king's castle! Welcome home to whoever lives here! 8 Nov 2008 6:03am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaYour photos are all exceptional GJC maybe you see it slightly blurry (could be your screen) or you're just seeing the movement of the wind, that's impressive ;) 8 Nov 2008 10:43am Pixim from Nice, FranceSince I take part at this community, I travel with your photos, and already for that I thank you. Moreover, my voyage with you is of any beauty and a great quality ;) 8 Nov 2008 11:14am @Pixim: Thank you for such a lovely compliment. I agree that this community of photography is a wonderful way to travel the world. Thanks, also, for your amazing contributions to our journeys. Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesBeautiful image. Welcoming. 8 Nov 2008 12:29pm Tracey from White Hall, United StatesGORGEOUS and welcoming pic! Love it. Don't know about the technical end of the uploading issue in regards to the blurriness. I did notice that the aperture was 4.0- pretty wide. It looks like the focus was on the door. Maybe the tree was a bit out of the DOF? But, then again, if the original is clear, that wouldn't explain it. So, just ignore my rambling! 8 Nov 2008 3:44pm Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomYes, I see the softness to which you refer. Although we keep within the size guidelines, there is often (but not always!) a perceived reduction in quality in our postings. But 'lossless' means paying . . . 8 Nov 2008 8:08pm Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesAre you also adjusting the DPI or PPI when you re-size it? I don't seem to have the issue when I post identical posts to each of my blogs (I don't pay for AM3 Premium). On my other blog the image that posts is exactly the same as what I upload to my server, so in theory it should be better than the one that posts on AM3 yet I see no difference in the images once they post here. (I have recently started posting larger Landscape orientation photos on original blog so they will obviously be different, but my portrait orientation posts and older posts are from identical files.) If you look at today's images and view the properties for them you will see the file size here is much smaller on AM3 (29.33 KB) than my other site (104.62 KB) but yet I don't see any visible difference between the two and I uploaded the identical images to both. Here is the link for my main site: Here is the link for my AM3 site: So I think something else is going on here. It is a beautiful shot and a lovely place. 8 Nov 2008 10:26pm Jonas from Vitória, BrazilThe mood of the left part of the composition is warmly attractive. And I think the right part, occupying a larger scale, participates in this effect, Sometimes, the invisible, or the less visible as here, is the most important thing of a picture :) 8 Nov 2008 11:36pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaThis is a beautiful composition (slightly marred by blurriness). What I do is this: Process the photo as desired including sharpening at the original resolution. Save (for myself). Resize to 800px wide (or somewhat less if it's a portrait-oriented shot). Unsharp mask at usually 67%, .3 pixels radius (though sometimes a smaller percentage). Then I save as full quality jpeg. 10 Nov 2008 5:34am signature103 from Hiroshima, JapanNice composition. 10 Nov 2008 2:25pm |
