I think this thickness is good to go. Why are you deciding to add a border? Nice shot as usual!

@Howard F.: Thanks for the visit and the comment. I decided to try the border to add another layer of stability to the image. As you know, I like images that feel quiet and I thought the border helps in establishing that mood by providing a confined space for the image.
I do not think artistic choices should be questioned - they should be respected. Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone tried to change everyone elses images according to their taste (and god knows what lack of taste may be out there)? Lovely image!
I occasionally use thin black borders on some of my work. One thing though, I have found that they don't always work if the image edges are also dark. I think its fine on this shot of yours, the composition draws us to the centre so the border acts as a good boundary for the image, which really suits the use of a border.
Effective composition, beautiful lighting and colours... a very lovely shot and the border also seems to work well here - it helps me focus on the image and is also like adding a kind of "dignity" to it...
