Entrance, Renge-ji Temple (蓮華寺)

Posted by GJC (Kyoto (京都), Japan) on 23 October 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture.

I have passed by the hidden entrance of this little temple in the far north of Kyoto many times but I only recently went in. It turned out to be a stunning gem: an outstanding garden and a first-rate temple building.

Photography was limited to only certain sections of the temple, so I tried (really hard!) to put the camera down. But there is meditation in photography, too, and with that spirit I took this and the next two photos. When the fall leaves turn I will go back and share with you then the tranquility of this magnificent place.
