Beautiful work picture. One should realize this more when eating a spoonful of rice, how much hard work it took and how cheap the end product is. They should honor these people with a medal.

What beautiful shades of green ... you've said that D300 loves red, well, I think it has a special fondness for green, as well ... you've documented so well, here, the back-breaking work necessary to put the basic staple rice on the table ... well done!

great capture. well, she's obviously not responsible for the rice shortage. thankless work feeding the world, i wish the extra money from the rising rice prices was going to her.

Interesting shot. In Japan even if the machines are doing the job we still can see some people planting rice by hand in the fields. I was invited to do it last year...

Beautiful photo. The colors are magical: the various shades of green and the woman's colorful clothes. The exposure and light are soft and fabulous. The lines make it a very strong composition: diagonals, verticals and horizontals. I think you brought your architectural eye to this photo.
I think we should pay more for food grown by small farmers like this. That would be the best way to value their work.

I love this.. It captures a scene that tells a lot about where you are. I find it difficult to capture a moment like this because it can seem so ordinary- until you are somewhere else and then realize you don't see that kind of thing. Does that make sense? Like when I lived in the Southwest US and then moved back east. I realized how much I had missed the old historic brick buildings. Now I am so used to them that I don't really see them anymore.
In addition, the layers here make the composition interesting. The diagonal bands create the foreground, middle and background that each have distinct color compositions- from red to blue to green...
