Why do these horizontal shots look so mushy on aminus3? Any suggestions? I've set the maximum parameter to 800 pixels and yet. . .
Anyway: When I was a little kid I remember once riding in the car with my mother. It was spring and I told her how much I liked all the beautiful green of the new leaves. She said, "Yes, and what I love is how many different kinds of green there are!" I have never forgotten the sudden blazing recognition that my mother was in fact right -- there were hundreds of kinds of green. Until then I'd never truly seen that, and if she had never showed me I don't know if I ever would have . So, Mom, thanks so much for opening my eyes to the world, to taking in its beauty, and for always being patient and passionate enough to show me. Here are some greens for you -- for us. A large part of the globe separates us, but you are with me every day. Happy Mother's Day!

Beautiful composition and shades of green. You wrote very moving words to your Mom. She surely is very proud of you!

I'm sure you inherited the visual competencies of your mother, this picture is another proof! BTW my son and I bought five rose plants for in the garden, not only she, but also we were very happy about it. Next to this I gave her a CD with Buddhist songs and music - she uses to medidate often and to see life from a universal, non-dogmatic view like in Buddhism. She is also reading "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance" by Robert M. Pirsig. My own mother has passed away four years ago.

Beautiful picture with all that green and the pagoda. Thank you very much for your kind comment. I don't understand exactly what means "mushy" but if you look your picture with the "small" option try to change it in "large". I have found a difference...

Nice photo. Go for 1,000 pixels wide and see if you like that better.

Love the sentiment, the observation AND this shot, especially the splash of pink below the pagoda. A smashing shot.

are you resizing to 800 pixels wide before you upload? weird. about the shot: sweet. even before i read your description i thought about how you captured all these different greens. nice treescape

I remember a similar converaation with my mam =D) I love all of these different greens.
Do you sharpen the picture after resizing? I found that a small amont of sharpening after sizing to 800pixels helps but the compression does seem to affect the horizontal shots more than the verticals. Only way to avoit that is to become an A+ member!

Marvelous pallet green

Someone suggested sharpening, which is a good idea. Also, do you post them as jpg? I do, and I don't think I've had problems with fuzzyness. If the problem persists, you might pose the problem on the forum.

This is wonderful and perfectly lovely, and a great note in your caption too. Thanks.

Beautiful photo! If you set the size of your photo to be 800 pixels wide, apply a bit of sharpening after resizing and before posting the photo, there should be no problem on the sharp quality of the photo if you post it without the option of high quality.
