This was an amazing old house with more than 300 rooms and an endless warren of halls and stairs. I was nearly crazy to photograph everything I could before the wonderful light disappeared. The next few are all from the same house.

It's a wonder that such buildings still exist!!! I look forward to the next shots from this mansion! Don't worry.....I would have done the same thing!

I love this picture. Beautiful and interesting shape of roofs. I enjoy also that you have include the roof in the foreground. The sky on the upper right border is a place where I feel beeing trapped. Rather than a crop I would suggest to use the perpective tool and extend up that corner, this will correct a bit also the lines which are leaning on the right there...

@akarui: Thanks so much for your comment and your suggestion. You're absolutely right that the perspective gets a little odd up there in the right corner! When I finally get some imaging software (and learn to use it!) I'll try to fix that up. I appreciate your suggestion.

Your exposure here is absolutely perfect ... the colors are warm and rich and beautifully balanced. The perspective is equally beautiful ... although I do believe that akarui has a good point. A magnificent image!

Wow! What a view, can you imagine living here? My father told me his childhood home had 500 rooms, with strict house rules forbidding children going into parts of the house, who knows what went on in those rooms- opium? concubines? Him and his babysitter got lost one time he recalls, and she ended up getting spanked by the elder women of the house.

Incredible view and angle of amazing architecture. I enjoy the quaint and peaceful courtyard. The red lanterns add wonderful color. Very nice capture.

Yes, I know that crazyness: yesterday I drove home from a funeral and passed along a beautiful old little town on a large river: the sun was just before setting, the sky was clear (seldom these days in Holland) and I also felt crazy fur hurrying. This is a wonderful result!
