I've come back to this one several times today trying to make up my mind about this.....the rather stark simplicity appeals to me greatly and I love the way the sliced off stalks of the crop stand up at all angles - the colour is the enigmatic bit that I can't make up my mind about....I wondered what it would look like with a very thin horizontal piece of the top cropped out to give slightly more dominance to the pale blue.

@Ian Bramham: I'm touched that you took the time to come back several times and offer some helpful advice. Actually I took this walking by the field and it was the only one I took. A random shot. Only after getting home did I realize that it was rather interesting. I must confess I rather like the large foreground (something I do too often I confess) because it compacts the top and makes a good contrast between the blue and the black. So your idea may be a good one. Anyway, I appreciate the suggestion.
I like these types of shots, they question and pose answers, and reveal themselves as stories to be unwoven. The hint of blue, the shapes, and the play of light. Its a great image.

Nice one, totally love the reflection. I feel that if the picture has been taken vertically, the results might be very different.Perhaps you intend to highlight the pale blue reflection, but by stretching the photo and giving it more depth, you may have 2 of these featured in one single photo. Then again, its just my personal opinion.

@Jaqueline: Thanks for the suggestion. You are right that even a mild change of angle can change a photo dramatically. I can't say this one was well planned; I just happened to walk by and take this one shot before continuing. Need to think more carefully before taking the picture! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment and for stopping by.
